Mohamed recently joined the BELGATEAM as a new Consultant. He agreed to answer a few questions about his professional and personal paths.
Focus on your career path
What about your studies ?
During my high school studies, I have always been passionate about engineering and technical innovation. After obtaining my A-Level (CESS) in 2015, I passed my admission exam with distinction in Civil Engineering at University of Liege. The first three years at ULiege allowed me to get a solid foundation on the understanding of the different sciences: physics, mathematics, mechanics and of course : ELECTRONICS !
It was during the second year of my university course that I discovered a real passion for electronics. All the electronics projects that I have been able to carry out have reinforced my motivation to go in that way.
It is therefore with an enthusiastic spirit that I decided to get my Master’s degree in electronics engineering.
During my two years of masters, I developed my skills in various fields: on-board electronics, power electronics, IT, project management, drafting of technical specifications on technical reports and so on… I also followed a specialization in signal processing and intelligent robotics.
I finally got graduated from the faculty of applied sciences in October 2020 during the well-known graduation ceremony which marked the successful completion of these 5 university years filled with beautiful memories.

What is your professional experience ?
During my university studies, I had the opportunity to perform my Master thesis at the Space Center of Liege.
I was mainly in charge of conceiving from A to Z an electronic circuit able to simulate the behavior of loads such as motors.
My 6 months internship at the Space Center of Liege (CSL) allowed me to develop my technical skills. I managed to compare the theoretical results with practice and benefited valuable advice from the technical staff of the CSL.
How would you describe your profession as BELGATECH Consultant ?
I started my first mission as a System Engineer Consultant within a world leader in the green transport sector: ALSTOM. What I like with BELGATECH is its human size and the proximity between the Consultant and his Managers. Describing the daily job of a Consultant in a few lines is not an easy task. Being a Consultant is not just working for the Client, it’s a complete mindset with internal contributions to his internal company ! I would say that the main quality of a Consultant should be his ability to adapt according to the projects he has to carry out with the Client, his autonomy and flexibility.

My first mission as a System Engineer will be to analyze, define and develop the Alstom Signalling system architecture and functions.
How do you see your job in 10 years ?
In the long term, I would be interested in progressing into project and human resource management once my technical skills are well developed.
Focus on YOU
What can you tell us about yourself outside of work?
I am proud to grew up at Liege (Lîdje in walloon !) also called « La Cité Ardente » (Fiery City) since people are known to be welcoming, warm and like to party until the end of the night !
Outside of work, I sometimes provide academic support to student that encounters difficulties in mathematics and physics through the ASBL Menestys. Most of the time, they come from modest background and I know how difficult it can be to find tutoring when needed !
I am also an active member of several organizations such as « La Main Tendue » that provides support and first necessities kits to vulnerable people.
