Look at our land surveyors team, David & Maxime, at work!
While managing a project close to the Brussels Atomium in 2019, our design office is currently measuring the famous Aulne Abbey and its convent with a view to deliver accurate information to turn this wonderful place into a wellness center (spa, hotel, restaurant, conference rooms…).
The ruins of the
Cistercian Aulne Abbey can be found in Gozée near the town of Thuin in the
Walloon region.
The abbey is nestled in a steep valley on the right bank of the Sambre,
beautifully called “Valley of peace”.
This Abbey was
founded by the later canonized Abbot Landelin of Crespin in 657. Founded as a
Benedictine monastery in 1147 it became a Cistercian Abbey.
Then the Abbaye d’Aulne alternated periods of splendour and decadence until
1794 when it was badly damaged by French revolutionary troops.
In 1859 when the last monk died, the Monastery was abandoned and turned into a hospice…
2019 is time for a revival!
BELGATECH looks to a bright future and is proud to participate in this exciting project.
