Two of our HR employees started working “remotely” for BELGATECH during the lockdown last April. Ellen and Floriane share their unique experience with us!
Imagine your first day of work in a new company: the adrenaline, meeting colleagues, a wave of information hitting you, meetings following one another, it is better to have a solid capacity to adapt!
Ellen and Floriane, on the other hand, had a completely different experience. From the comfort of their home, with headphones on their ears and eyes riveted to their screen, they first discovered their colleagues by videoconference during the traditional Monday morning business meeting! It is only after several weeks that they will be able to take their first steps in the workplace and physically integrate the team they have got to know virtually.
βAt times, I wondered if this was all real,β says Floriane. βItβs weird to start working with people you’ve never met physically. “
Although it is not easy to integrate a company in full confinement, this original situation, offers some positive points:
– The possibility to have a very personal and individual contact with each colleague by phone: understanding their function in the company, the customer accounts they manage, their needs in terms of human resources, the most sought-after recurring profiles at BELGATECH, etc.
– Gradual reception of information about the company: activities, sectors, way of working, strategic plan… and taking the time to integrate and understand them.
– The flexibility to organize your working day as you wish, especially regarding children.
“Living this experience at the same time allowed us to support each other, exchange our impressions, share our feelings and break a little the isolation that the lockdown imposed on us.“, explains Ellen.
